All the hustle and bustle running around having diplomatic meetings to avoid war is extremely similar to WWI and WWII events. Regardless of all the back-n-forth claims, agreements and document signing, the primary issue of the main disagreement remains the same. Who is going to run the world? Since The Son of Perdition is likely waiting in the background, a massive global destabilizing war is necessary to "Reset" everything before he reveals himself as god and offers his solution to solve all problems in exchange for the world to worship him.
