King Solomon said it best....'vanity'. And looser curls is not 'privileged' hair and that's really where the argument lies. People actually have it backwards. So because it's all about vanity people will never see the truth about their hair or anything else that has to do with being a true Hebrew Israelite.

I personally believe that not knowing who we are plays a significant part, but also some people really don't know how to care and manage their natural hair. Cosmetology itself is a business (money maker!!!) designed to change the texture of our hair or cover it all together with weaves, braids and wigs. I have been natural for the last 22 years and love my natural hair... but then again, that's been my profession since 1996.

I feel like all of these issues and struggles within the natural hair community have everything to do with not knowing or embracing our true identity as Israel.
We lost so much knowledge and understanding about how to care for ourselves. From how we raise our children, to the proper healthy boundaries for all relationships, right down to what to do with and for our skin nails and hair and we have whored after acceptance from our oppressors with this learned subconscious behavior of self hatred.
Love one another as we love ourselves, are we willing to learn how to love again? ....Why do we have to police and harass each other so much? we even do it in our communities regarding this truth. Ive seen people become truly disturbed in this walk from it. We are healing and we will heal. It takes much accountability and responsibility of some hard truths and i pray for the time and understanding to be restored

I'm sure all of the problems stem from that, and them not practicing love. If the natural hair community knew it was Israel and acted in love, it probably would have: uplifted plain jane fros more and wouldn't have glorified twist-outs {or high-manipulation-natural-styles) as the only way of wearing your natural hair, shown more grace to all, embraced locs more because of the 'holy; not cutting your hair aspect', and maybe it would have cut out heat all together. BUT, as with all movements, there will always be the group that is strictly "by the book" and then the other group that adheres to it less. And, there are always the 'brews that "know," and therefore use that knowing to the hurt of others by being contentious. So, the community knowing it's Israel probably wouldn't have changed much because knowledge puffs up.

Yes, this is so sad. Though, I am seeing a reversal of confidence and sistas rocking their natural locks. There is also an awareness of natural hair products. I was saddened when Carol's daughter sold her line to Loreal.
