Traditionally, we learn that Ruth came from the land of Moab. And that is true, but whose “Lot” was it when she and Naomi came from there? Was it Torah for the seed of David to marry into the line of Moab? Where did Moses die, where was the city of AI, and the balm of Gilead? Where did Balaam seek to curse Israel? And what land was conquered in all of these instances? And how do the translators of the book tend to name the lands of Israel even while ISRAEL occupies them?
