In the United States, the Constitution distinguishes between federal and state military forces. The federal government has the authority to maintain the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard). Meanwhile, states have the right to maintain their own military forces in the form of the National Guard and the State Defense Forces (SDFs).
National Guard: Each state, as well as the District of Columbia, has a National Guard, which can be called into federal service during national emergencies but primarily serves under the control of the state governor.
State Defense Forces: Some states also maintain their own military forces separate from the National Guard, known as State Defense Forces, State Guards, or State Military Reserves. These forces are entirely under state control and cannot be federalized. WE BETTER WAKE UP BECAUSE IF THE STATES COMBINE THEIR SDF'S THEY MAY BE LARGER THAN THE FEDERAL FORCES. BUT THIS COULD ALSO BE USED AGAINST US!
