Students of the Word, may I commend to your consideration this book, written in 1917 (when false Zionism was in its infancy and politics rarely created biblical presupposition).
Here the author reviews the historic (Kings and Chronicles) books as well as the major and minor prophets to show the differing covenants, source, character and destiny of the northern and southern kingdoms, tribes and peoples.
It has opened my eyes to the potential that it was Judah, Benjamin, Levi and their incorporated Edomite leaders that (alone) denied Messiah. Israel (the 10 tribes) had been scattered without a shred of testimony of mass return, and while surely guilty of unrepentant and perpetual idolatry, they were nowhere near Jerusalem in AD 30.
Hence, the history from then until now, of the 2 nations and people groups must be considered separately.
