Every nomadic journey starts somewhere...
Most times, it starts the same way it began for our ancestors: with a simple instruction from the Master YAHUAH to leave.
Abram [Abraham] was told to go, and he didn’t receive all the details upfront.
When our people left Mitsrayim, they were only told to move, and that didn’t come with a neat, detailed map either.
And I think that’s the part that can feel a bit unnerving.
Because if the instruction is “leave,” but the destination or even path isn’t clearly defined (or the details come later), it naturally brings up the question:
How do you actually know when you’re being led to go somewhere?
For me, the big turning point came in a dream. I’m not going to unpack the whole dream here (I may share it on my blog at some point: https://www.torah-remnant.org/home), but what I will share is what it left me with: The message settled in my spirit - it’s time to leave.
To be honest, my history with dreams/visions has been bittersweet. I used to dismiss them in the past because other people didn’t readily accept them or understand them. But when I stopped filtering everything through outside voices and started trusting the Set-Apart Ruach of the Master YAHUAH to lead me, things came together in a more settled way than I can fully explain.
Here's what the first phase of our nomadic journey taught me (just my experience and not as a rule for anybody else):
🙇🏾♀️ Willingness comes first. Being truly ready to do what He says, even when it doesn’t make sense to people around you (and/or even most importantly, yourself).
👀 Stay observant. Not paranoid but just aware. The Master YAHUAH can use anything (a conversation, a closed door, a repeated theme showing up in daily life) to confirm what He’s already stirring in you.
⌛ Timing matters. When He says “start packing,” it doesn’t always mean “eventually.” I learned that the hard way.
When I first felt the call (Fall 2022), I thought I had plenty of time (part of it could have been doubt, too). But as the months passed, I realized the timing lined up with the end of our lease, and what I assumed would be simple (selling things, preparing, organizing) took WAY longer than expected. And, even though it turned into an avoidable scramble near the end, it marked the beginning of a journey that landed us in Costa Rica in February 2023.
If you’re in a season where it’s hard to discern whether you’re being told to move or being influenced by the voices around you, believe me, I get it. Sometimes the most trustworthy thing we can do is wait, stay humble, and trust that our genuine desire to do the Master’s will is going to outlast the noise and rise to the surface in His timing.
Have you ever had a moment (a dream, Scripture, a strong settling in your spirit, repeated confirmations) where you knew the Master YAHUAH was leading you, even if/when you didn’t have the full map yet?
