The Sergeant's Heat Illness Prevention Tip: Drink sufficient water to satisy thirst, no more than 12 quarts per day. Do not drink excessive amounts of any fluid, especially carbohydrate-electrolyte beverages (i.e. gatorade, energy drinks). These drinks are known to cause death when they are not consumed in accordance with the serving size recommendation. NOTE: Urine should be light colored, but not completely devoid of color for sufficient hydration.
