Shalom Sister Faith, I am not an eschatologist but I see it like this: The great tribulation is what Yisra'el has gone through the last 400 plus years. Notice this:
Revelation 7:14
I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who ( have come out of the great tribulation) ; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Notice earlier in the chapter it talks about the four angels at the four winds having to not distroy or hurt the earth until YAH's servents have been sealed.

There are 22 times the KJV mentions the word tribulation and most of the times it's refering to our forefather's going into captivity until YAHUAH sends YAHUSHA to regather us.
The Christian Church has told the story of a seven year tribulation it's just like their rapture story. Therefore we've been in (the tribulation) for quite some time and not 7 years.
