So, I have been tracking this concept for a while. The idea of our historic views on marriage and sexuality ie during the time when our people were enduring chattel slavery. It is a vast and sensitive topic. This makes it difficult to comment on.
In general, we have been sold the idea that we were/are a promiscuous people. This article which I picked up from JSTOR, is telling us that the truth is, despite being in an environment that broke us, forced us, dehumanized us, we stayed true to our inherent lean to be faithful and family oriented.
