Earlier this year, my sister took my 13-year-old niece’s iPhone away, and gave her a flip phone, after watching this, I’m saddened for the children and their families in this segment, and others like them, and at the same time, I’m so thankful that my niece doesn’t have the added challenge of growing up online. Social media is dangerous for our children, it affects them in so many ways even after they put the phone down. But we noticed an immediate and overall positive change in my niece once the phone was removed completely.
I want to encourage other parents to consider making the same move. Yes, your children might think it’s “unfair” or “mean” but they will get over it, and more importantly, they will benefit from not falling into the traps of social media and this system of the beast.
