Lets walk together!
Amos/Amoc 3:3 โCan two walk together, except they be agreed?โ
This often-quoted scripture is generally misused to convey the idea that two people must โbe in agreementโ or โon the same pageโ in order to journey together. There is a better understanding that can be gleaned from looking at one of the words in this text.
Be Agreed/Agree โ yaad โ YOD, AYIN & DALET
Definition: to meet, appointed, assemble, assembled, assigned, designated, designates, gather, gathered, made an appointment, meet, meet together, set
Let us replace the transliterated word โAGREEโ with the Hebraic meaning. What is this verse saying now?
~ โCan two walk together, except they be GATHERED?โ
~ โCan two walk together, except they be ASSEMBLED?โ
~ โCan two walk together, except they MEET TOGETHER?โ
So, this verse is not about agreement. Its more about assembling, gathering, and investing time in relationships. Togetherness does not happen with forcing agreements upon one another.
Hebrews 10:23-25 โ23 Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. 25 Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.โ
And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
