3 yrs - Translate

Shalawam Shalom Brew Family. Went to visit my daughter family in Georgia. They have land out there. I'm asking my Brew Family for help on how to cultivate this sand, clay to a garden of fruits and vegetables 🍓🍊🍉🥑🍅🫒🍑🍐🫛🫚

Shalawam! There are a few options ...1) till the top 6 inches and mix in compost and fertilizer. Working the clay soil will be challenging if it's compacted. However, a benefit of clay soil is that it contains minerals that are beneficial to plants. 2) Raised beds. I've used this method to immediately create the necessary soil conditions reducing the amount of work in breaking up the clay soil. Most of the cost will in bed construction and purchasing garden soil/compost mix. If building beds greater than 6 inches deep, use organic fillers like wood chips (about 3 inch deep) and layer your soil material on top.

If you have a lot of space, then create sections that you can manage (I have 2 sections, 50' x 20' that I can rotate crops or simply let either section rest depending on the season).

Location is important too. Vegetables need adequate sunlight and water. If your area receives a lot of rain, observe the places where the water pools. Building a garden in these areas may not be ideal.

A lot more can be said but plan ahead and don't take on more than you csn handle.
