I 100% agree and I’ve always felt this way. I know it’s not a popular opinion. But even as a little girl I was struck by the American Education System’s blatantly obvious attempt to indoctrinate me into believing that MLK, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, etc., were my “heroes”. The problem was grade after grade beginning in kindergarten theses “heroes” never changed or expanded. Year after year these “heroes” were brought out for me to glorify as people that had helped deliver us into some type of freedom or equality in the US. I had multiple issues with this. One problem I had is why didn’t I ever learn about my history before slavery? Two, why didn’t these “heroes”, with their huge platform and audience ever tell the truth about who we were? I overstand now that what we desperately needed as a people was our STOLEN CULTURE reclaimed and restored. Without that, integration was a pointless endeavor that wouldn’t do anything to heal generational curses and trauma. And three, my every day experience along with that of friends and family didn’t coincide with the propagandized narrative. My family along with so many other Afro-Indigenous and Afro-Asiatic families were battling several generations of dysfunction and trauma and sadly I witnessed generation after generation losing this battle to crime, drugs, obesity/heart disease, poverty, broken/toxic families, etc. I felt and still feel this way about all these “heroes” that have been assigned to us. What I find most troubling is how desperately so many of us have caped for these “heroes” in our own community. I often liken it to us defending eating pork. We can clearly look to our own families and communities and see how almost nothing has changed for us economically, in terms of our ability to establish real generational wealth in the US, physically in terms of the rise in the prison industrial complex and militarized law enforcement and the subsequent imprisonment of Black bodies, psychologically, in terms of realigning our self-esteem with Yahuah instead of Babylon’s culture and finally spiritually in terms of ENDING and HEALING generational curses and trauma by restoring OUR CULTURE so we can be re-grounded and root ourselves in all of our historical truth not just the part of our story that begins with our ancestors arriving on slave ships but the part about us having the first universities and largest libraries in Timbuktu. And of course you know the rest of our true history, the first royalty in Germany, Greece, Spain, etc. I could go on and on. So yes, I agree 100% with what he is saying and I have since I was in kindergarten. I see the glorification of these Black “heroes” as another stronghold that needs to desperately be broken. As far as I’m concerned our children should be coloring pictures of Jacob, Leah, Moses, Jeremiah, Sarai, etc., in school. But I can promise you come next next pagan February thousands of little Afro-Asiatic school children will be coloring (some of them for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year in a row) pictures of MLK and reading that “I have Dream” speech for the millionth time. And when the month is over they still won’t know themselves, remember their ancestors or know they are Qodeshiym And quite frankly what is the point of an education if it can’t start by telling you those things, except to I doctrinaire into a false belief system.

I found this documentary very interesting and also very informative. Alot of die hard followers of King would rebuke everything that was brought out. Sadly, even when the truth is evident, ppl.still want to hold on to the lies. I can recall going to several people's home and seeing his picture along with white jesus on their walls. I could never align myself with his philosophies (turn the other cheek) as ppl.of color were continuously being hosed,beaten,and bitten by dogs. When King and Malcolm had their era; I was a child living in the V.I. It wasn't until adulthood I really learned of both. Always having a rebel spirit I loved and still do love Malcolm.
