Shabbat shalom mish. I was impressed to post a nugget of truth regarding Easter on my FB page as I started to get this "righteous indignation" stirring up in me. Still have family and associates that are not awaken to the truth so figured I ruffle a few feathers. Decided to post it here as well as confessions of a former Christian.


Just a thought…

I thought by coloring hard-boiled eggs with brilliant colors and then later hiding them in order for children (and even grown-ups) to hunt for them on Easter was honoring our Messiah.

I thought by dressing up in my finest apparel afforded to me and attending religious services to impress others and the pastor on Easter was honoring our Messiah

I thought feasting on a large meal amongst family and friends eating to your heart's content on Easter was honoring our Messiah.

I thought filling my children's Easter baskets with store-bought chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and marshmallows to celebrate Easter was honoring our Messiah

I also thought by keeping the Easter holiday was honoring our Messiah


But here’s what I’ve learned over the years …

Easter is only mentioned once in the Bible (Acts 12:4) and even that is a poor mistranslation (imo) of the Greek word for passover (pascha -> passover). “Easter” pre-dates our Messiah’s resurrection and has foundational ties to paganistic rituals and worship. Some of these practices were very gruesome and won't be mentioned here due to their graphic nature.

The Most High never sanctioned “Easter '' as a day for His people to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection...nowhere in the script that I can find at least. Question: Would our Messiah have us recognize His most victorious work and associate it to “Easter”, a day heavily tied to pagan practices?

Passover, however, is a legit feast day (holy day) as sanctioned by the Most High (Exodus 12); a set-apart time that truly honors our Messiah as it has all the key elements of His redemptive work. And no, there’s no mention of bunnies,eggs, or candy as heavily pushed by this commercialized society. As I see it, this set-apart time is a time of deep reflection and honest introspection as it relates to Jesus’ redemptive work in my life, making any course correction/adjustments as revealed by the Spirit of the Most High. Praise the Most High for allowing His Son to become the perfect sacrifice in my place, to redeem me back to Him as I was truly lost but am now found and established in Him.


Now…I’ve learned to honor my Messiah as noted via the script and by the spirit of the law, not according to traditions of men or arm of the flesh. I encourage others to search out the Word and be led by the Spirit of the Most High. HalleluYah!
