Shalom Mishpachah! I just want to say that last week I learned a lot after seeking advice and counsel from elders. One of the most shocking and devastating facts I learned about myself is the origin of my name. I always thought that I was cursed because of my given birth name 'Kyha' when it's always been the other way around due to origin and meaning. The shock was that I already had a Hebrew name with the correct spelling. I am still in shock. The ones who knew what my name meant knew exactly how to pronounce it and I didn't have to tell them anything when they met me. The meaning of the name, I never knew but now that I know it explains everything as to why one of my sisters hated my name and therefore hated my existence. It also explains how a lot of gentiles (Caucasians) know how to pronounce it and know it's origin and why I get the stares after they say my name as if they are waiting on a reaction or something. It's devastating that they knew and I never did. My aunt didn't even know the meaning when she named me. I am still processing the advise and counsel but this was one of the things told to me that stood out. I will say this...when you pray for truth and understanding and guidance...you will receive it. Be ready for it! All praises and esteem to Yahuah in the name of Yahusha Ha'Mashiach!

Is there a proper way to go about choosing a Hebrew name? (side note, ironically my first name is partially Hebrew)
